A City of Medieval Marvels and Contemporary Culture
It only takes a stroll through Strasbourg’s historic centre to fall in love with the city. Here, you’ll discover a romantic jumble of French and German architecture from centuries past. From the timber-framed houses of the Petite France neighbourhood to the majestic Pont Couverts bridge spanning the river Ill, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more fairytale-like city centre anywhere in the world.
However, Strasbourg holds plenty of modern attractions too. For its relatively modest size, the city is home to a surprising number of stellar art museums dedicated to contemporary artists, Alsatian heritage and anything in between. Speaking of which, you’d be remiss not to indulge in the local wine culture. Pick up a bottle at any number of splendid shops or pop into a wine bar after hours to sample a Riesling with the locals.
