Pivotéka
Czech beer is some of the best in the world, and no trip to the country would be complete without a proper tasting. So head over to Pivotéka, the shopfront for the local Frydlant Castle Brewery, to witness a spectacular range of signature Albrecht beer. Not only is this store a great place to taste the local brew, and explore the wonderful excesses of Czech lager in general, but there’s a fabulous selection of bottles from across the country, as well as beers on cask for tasting. Hank
A small independent clothing store, Hank’s shop doubles up as a workshop where all the clothes in-store are made by hand. Founded and run by two local women, Hank offers a wonderful range of unique fashion pieces, with a truly welcoming and industrious atmosphere created by the personality and drive of the owners. A lovely shopping experience all round. Open Monday to Friday 1pm to 6pm.
La Formaggeria
A treasure trove of local, artisanal delicacies, La Formaggeria is a gourmand’s paradise. You’ll find olives, artichokes, pates, Czech pickles, and of course a magnificent selection of gourmet cheeses from the region, as well as a well-stocked wine cellar. The ultimate spot for canapes, or tasty treats, and a must visit for foodies in Liberec looking for tasty souvenirs. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 6.30pm, and Saturday 9am to 12pm
Vinoteka Hruska
Located in one of the oldest houses in Liberec, the Hruska Vinoteka is a delightful wine shop and bar, and the perfect place to discover the rich Czech winemaking tradition. You can taste wine from their own vineyards, as well as from a range of small family companies in Moravia. To top it off, the shop also offers a great menu of bar snacks to accompany your chosen tipple. Pop in if you’re feeling a little peckish mid-afternoon, and leave with delicious souvenirs of your time in Liberec. Tea might not spring to mind when you think of the Czech Republic, but this charming little shop might just change your opinion. Stocking a staggering range of teas and blends, Lecive Rostliny offers medicinal herbal teas, a great selection of green, black and fruit teas, over 320 custom blends and the opportunity to mix your own tea to your liking. Liberec Farmer’s Market
If you have a taste for home-grown fresh fruit and vegetables, locally sourced produce and a lively atmosphere, then the Liberec Farmers Market held every Thursday on Kostelni Street is the place to be. With a huge array of stalls, and curious weekly themes like ‘pumpkin’, ‘plum’ and ‘barbeque’, this a fun morning and a great place to see what Liberec and the surrounding countryside has to offer.
