Bienenschmidt is set in the middle of the Teutoburg forest, about a half-hour drive from Bielefeld. It was built in the 1800s, and retains the feel of an old-timey tavern: there’s a roaring fireplace, illuminating warm and welcoming rooms, and the menu is full of excellent pub-style food. Want to work up an appetite before you eat? Then arrive a little before your reservation and enjoy the hiking trails in the woods surrounding the restaurant. Open weekdays (apart from Tuesday) 5pm to 10pm, Saturday 11am to 10pm, and Sunday 9am to 10pm. Closed Tuesday.
