‘Bach Week’ is Thuringia’s largest classical music festival, and an ode to one of the state’s most famous and significant native sons. First held in 1992, the festival fell by the wayside for a while until it was revived in 2005. Now, Bach Festival represents one of the biggest and best celebrations of Bach’s music, and regularly features the biggest names from the international classical music scene, such as Ton Koopman, Olivier Latry and Martin Stadtfeld. The programme is spread across an array of venues across the region, featuring the full range of places in Thuringia where Bach lived, worked, composed and played. Not to be missed for any fans of Bach or classical music more generally.
