One of the oldest buildings still standing in Hannover, the gothic beauty of the Aegidienkirche dates back to 1347. It was bombed in the Second World War and never restored, standing now as an evocative monument to war-torn generations. Particularly poignant is the Peace Bell, which was donated by Hiroshima, Hannover’s sister city, and now tolls once a year on the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. Open daily 10am to 6pm.
