Dat Backhus is a chain of bakeries across Hamburg selling delicious pastries and great-tasting breakfasts. However the real draw at these establishments are the franzbrōtchen, small, sweet pastries made with butter and cinnamon that became popular in Hamburg when Napoleon’s troops occupied the city between 1806 and 1814. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy a few of the wonderful, and historic, treats.

Various locations across the city. Open weekdays 6.30am to 7pm, Saturday 7am to 6pm and Sunday 8pm to 4pm.
