Built in 1996, the Niagara Butterfly Conservatory is one of the largest glass-enclosed facilities of its kind in North America. As you meander 180 metres of floral-filled, winding pathways, spot some of the over 2,000 butterfly's which call the space 'home.' There's also a picturesque waterfall, creating a virtual rainforest atmosphere - and a great photo opportunity. The facility also has video theatres, interactive displays, and specialized greenhouses for rearing butterflies and growing plants. Morningstar Mill
If you're interested in some of the Niagara Region's historical sites, the Morningstar Mill is a must-visit. Located in St. Catherines, this 2.98-acre heritage site includes the mill itself, a sawmill, a barn for blacksmith demonstrations, and the Decew Falls gorge that runs along the Niagara Escarpment. The mill was run by Wilson Morningstar between 1883 and his death in 1933. During Wilson's active years, a modern turbine was installed to make stone-ground flour, saw logs into lumber, and produce electricity. After years of silence and uncertainty, the mill reopened in 1962 as a tourist attraction. Despite restoration work, the Morningstar Mill still houses all of its original equipment. If you're interested in taking a tour, plan your visit between the end of May and early October. Tours take place by appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Safari Niagara
What started as a small sanctuary for animals grew into Safari Niagara in 2009. With animal shows, tours and feedings, this safari is an ideal destination for just about anyone, especially families with small children. It allows visitors to get up close to more than 1000 animal species in an outdoor atmosphere. This 150-acre, privately-owned and operated nature park is also home to a splash pad, paddle boats, a children's playground, a carousel, and a fully stocked lake for catch and release fishing.
Great Canadian Midway
If you're looking to get competitive or simply for a fun night out, the Great Canadian Midway should be high up on your to-do list. Located one block from the falls, amid all the action on Clifton Hill, this entertainment complex is 70,000 square feet of adrenaline-pumping excitement for families, friends, or even solo visitors. Beyond the captivating lights, colors, and sounds, there are over 300 games, including interactive activities and rides like the Cosmic Coaster 6D experience. As you play games like roll-a-ball and Deal or No Deal, collect tickets that can be redeemed for amazing prizes. End the by heading upstairs for a meal at Boston Pizza.
