Tamworth PowerStation Museum
Tamworth revels in the accolade of being the Australian “City of Lights”, the first Australian city to get electric light. This curious little museum, housed in a 1907 powerstation, celebrates this status with an abundance of interesting and odd exhibits. The space is packed to the rafters with the weird relics of early electricity, and is a joy to explore. The main event is two working steam dynamos modelled on the one which first brought power to Tamworth in 1888. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
