The Mount Gambier Easter Showjumping Festival is one of the premier showjumping events in the state, as well as being one of the longest running, having run for over 35 years. A wonderful celebration of the art of horse riding and eventing, it attracts competitors from all walks of life, from global superstars and Olympians, to casual weekend riders. The event is held in the spectacular Blue Lake Velodrome, which provides a superb spectator experience. 100 Mile Classic
One of Australia’s oldest cycling races, and one of the most anticipated events in country, the Alex Roberts 100 Mile Classic is a truly iconic race, and a huge part of Mount Gambier’s sporting scene. The Classic has been running since 1933, and attracts top athletes from across Australia and around the world. The setting is beautiful and the race itself exciting, with a remarkable 800m downhill sprint finish to leave you gasping for breath by the end. As well as the main event, the weekend offers a whole range of other challenges and races to keep you interested. For lovers of cycling this should be an unmissable event.

Mount Gambier Show 2020
Running since 1860, the Mount Gambier Show is a huge highlight of the festival season, and a truly delightful event. A three-day celebration of all things agricultural and horticultural in South Australia, it is the largest show of its kind after the Adelaide Show, and brimming with top entertainment, rides and amusement. Of course, the main focus is the animals, the competitions, and the displays, and this is a wonderful excuse to get close to some of the regions cute and cuddly farmyard animals. With food stalls (the cinnamon doughnuts are famous across the region!) and local produce to buy, this is an exceptional community event and a great day out.

Fringe Mount Gambier is a really special festival, a bold exploration of everything quirky, alternative and edgy, as well as a celebration of diversity and inclusion in the community. Held after the Adelaide Fringe wraps up, Fringe Mount Gambier takes the torch and runs with it, showcasing an astonishing range of live performance, art, comedy and dance. An exploration of culture and society that gives license to performers and artists to express themselves, and embrace their child-like love of joy! Alongside the performances there are film screenings, revues, and circus shows for the kids. This is a joyful and inclusive event, with something for everyone.

Generations in Jazz has been the leading light of the Australian jazz scene for almost forty years, and has built a rich tradition of this amazing art form in the city.
