River Sessions Festival 2020
Mackay River Sessions is Queensland’s largest non-touring single day music festival, and has drawn thousands of tourists to Mackay since 2014. The festival features some of the best artists, acts and performers that Australia has to offer, and is a showcase for Australia’s leading dance, hip hop and indie/rock talent. The festival is set in JM Mulherin Memorial Park, on Mackay Harbour and overlooking the eye-catching beauty of the Coral Sea, making this event a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. Alongside the music, 15 food and arts stalls show off the best of what Mackay has to offer.

Mackay Beach Motorcycle Races 2020
For an event that will take your breath away and leave you exhilarated and giddy, look no further than Mackay’s Motorcycle Beach Races. There is possibly no better or more exciting spectator sport than watching speeding motorcycles along palm-lined beaches under tropical skies. Mackay’s iconic beach races are the only legal competitive beach races in Australia, and attract riders from around the world, and crowds of over 5000 spectators. A must for thrill seekers...but families and kids are well catered for as well, with entertainment, demonstrations, face painting, and beach markets offering a little something for everyone.

Mackay Inflatable Boat Race 2020
Mackay’s Inflatable Boat Race is one of the newest additions to the region’s festival calendar, and one of the most entertaining, enjoyable and downright wacky events you are ever likely to go to! Setting off from the spectacularly gorgeous Eimeo Beach, attendees dress in fancy dress, arm themselves with whatever inflatable they can put their hands on, and paddle around the short course to victory and glory. While competition is fierce, the event is light-hearted and all in the spirit of fun, and the fun and excitement is open to everyone.

Mushroom Valley Festival 2020
Mushroom Valley is more than just a music festival. Over the eight years the festival has been running, it has developed into a community for like-minded people to come together, share spaces and experiences, and enjoy some of the finest electronic music Queensland has to offer. Set in the magical landscape of Mushroom Valley, between Mackay and the Whitsundays, this festival provides a surreal space for shared cultures, connections and an almost out-of-body experience. The lineup includes some of the best techno, psy-trance, prog, glitch hop and drum and bass, alongside workshops, art exhibitions and visual performances to further entrance the senses.

Global Grooves Food and Music Festival 2020
The Global Grooves festival, organised by the MECC (Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre), is an explosion of food, music and culture from around the world, tantalising the senses and opening you up to new experiences. Over 30 food vendors take you on an exploration of the flavours of the world, from India, The Philippines, Germany, Italy and Thailand to Pakistan, Malta, Fiji and China. Meanwhile, a program of global music will entertain and delight, while the Global Village offers craft workshops, cultural demonstrations and a full entertainment lineup. The event finishes with a magnificent firework display, rounding off an exciting day of exploration.
