Bendigo Art Gallery has been around since 1887, and justly deserves its reputation as one of the finest regional art galleries in Australia. Its permanent collection is impressive, and includes Australian art dating back to the mid-19th century. Its program of temporary exhibitions is well-thought out, interesting and outside-the-box (a recent exhibition was dedicated to Marilyn Monroe!). Open daily from 10am to 5pm.
